Finding Home

“He’s the hope that holds me and the Stronghold to shelter me, the only God for me, and my great confidence.” Psalms 91:2 The Passion Translation

“He’s the hope that holds me and the Stronghold to shelter me, the only God for me, and my great confidence.” Psalms 91:2 The Passion Translation

Psalm 91 is a beautiful psalm of protection. The starting point of the psalm is “dwelling”; us finding that deep connection, heart to heart, secret place in God. This is where we dwell. This is where our heart, mind and soul can call “home”.

Have you found “home”? Have you found that intimate dwelling place in God? The invitation to dwell in that secret place is always there. Our Heavenly Father invites us out of the houses of human effort, the boarding houses of compromise, and our ivory towers of self-confidence. These dwelling places drain us of energy, joy and hope, and rely on us always having the answers.

The psalmist could declare that God was the hope that held him, because he knew he wasn’t looking to anything other than God. God as his hope is what gave the psalmist “great confidence”.

Philippians 3:4 says to put no confidence in the flesh. Our confidence should not be in what human effort, planning, good ideas or strategy can come up with. Our confidence comes from Someone far more dependable, who is perfect in all of His ways.

Can you hear the invitation from your Heavenly Father to dwell in Him today? He is your source of hope and confidence to face every new day.

A SELAH MOMENT

Are you dwelling in houses of human effort or self-confidence? Talk to God about making Him your dwelling place - a place where your heart, mind and soul can call “home”.
