Faithful to all Generations
God’s consistent nature of faithfulness cannot be altered
“Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:21-23 NIV
Sometimes we tend to forget how faithful and merciful our God is. In the busyness of our lives we can reduce His love and faithfulness down to simply securing a job, finding that car park or some warm, fuzzy feeling in worship. His love and faithfulness extends so much further than to just the daily issues we experience in life. His love and faithfulness encompasses every generation; the generations before you, and the generations to come after you. He is extraordinary in His faithfulness and greater than we can possibly comprehend. We will spend eternity in awe of His love and faithfulness towards us and all of humanity.
God’s love and faithfulness towards you today, is simply a brief moment in the utter expanse of His faithfulness covering generation after generation. His consistent nature of faithfulness cannot be altered. His mercy towards you is new every morning, and it is not going to disappear or change based on something you did or didn’t do. He is so much bigger than that! God’s love and faithfulness extends into our past, present and future. His faithfulness is seen in your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and past generations. To every culture, nation, and generation since time began; God has and always will be faithful.
I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever;
With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.
For I have said, “Mercy shall be built up forever;
Your faithfulness You shall establish in the very heavens.” Psalm 89:1-2 NKJV
A SELAH MOMENT
Think about how God has been faithful to you in your past. Begin to thank Him, and meditate on His great faithfulness towards your parents, your grandparents, great-grandparents and past generations. As you feed on His faithfulness towards you, ask to experience His love towards you in a fresh way.
