FOUND IN DARKNESS
God doesn’t back away in the face of our mistakes. Yes God is Holy and pure Light, but that doesn’t hinder Him from showing up on the scene every time there is pain, sin, mistakes and darkness.
Sometimes our choices make us feel either close or far away from God. We assume God’s proximity to us is determined by our performance. God however promises to never leave us nor forsake us, and to be an ever-present help in trouble (Deuteronomy 31:8, Psalm 46:1). He doesn’t back away in the face of our mistakes. Yes God is Holy and pure Light, but that doesn’t hinder Him from showing up on the scene every time there is pain, sin, mistakes and darkness.
“If I descend into the darkness, you are there.” (Psalm 139:8)
Choose the darkest place you can imagine, the filth of sin, the stench of past mistakes that lingers in your mind. God declares that even in our choices to go to the darkest place, He is there in the midst of that. He can go there with us and be untainted by it. He can stare your darkness in the face, and every time that darkness will dissolve in the presence of the Light of Who He is.
Light always wins over darkness. Turn on a lightbulb in a room, and it’s not trying to chase the darkness away; it just immediately transforms the darkness into light. God does that with us. He shows up on the scene of our darkest moment and shines His light. It’s not a light of condemnation, shame or anger at us; it’s a light of purity and redemption from a Saviour who loves to rescue us. His plan to redeem us is seen from the Garden all the way through the Bible. He does not abandon us or leave us in the dark places we find ourselves.
God is ready to transform your darkness into light, your sin into sanctification, your brokenness into redemption, and your hate into love. Whatever the darkness is that you are experiencing right now, bring it to the Light and watch how God transforms it from darkness to light. Know that you are a new creation in Christ, the “old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV).
A SELAH MOMENT
Do you feel in darkness right now? Know that God has found you in that place. Let His light of purity and redemption shine brightly in every space where the darkness feels overwhelming. He loves to transform hearts and minds and turn all things new.
